Vice President, Clinical Practice
Full Time
Columbus, OH or New York, NY

AndHealth is on a mission to radically improve access and outcomes for the most challenging chronic health conditions, with the goal of making world-class specialty care accessible and affordable to all. We partner with health systems, community health centers and independent specialists to remove barriers to care to ensure all people have access to the care they deserve.

We are seeking a Vice President of Clinical Practice to serve as the operational head of our clinical network. You will bridge the gap between clinical excellence and operational scale, working closely with Operations, Product, and the Clinical Quality Lead. Your mandate is clear: build and lead the high-performance team that allows us to treat thousands of complex patients without compromising safety or outcomes. You will act as the bridge between growth-stage velocity and clinical safety, ensuring our model is not only effective but repeatable.

In this role, you will report directly to the SVP, Provider Networks and Value-Based Care.

What you’ll do in the role:
Direct Leadership of the Provider Network

  • Manage the Clinical Workforce: Serve as the direct hiring manager and leader for AndHealth-employed (full-time and part-time PSA) specialists. You will partner with key stakeholders to design and administer their onboarding and training experience. You are responsible for their performance, retention, and professional development.
  • Culture and Accountability: Build a culture of low ego and high accountability. You are responsible for protecting the clinical team from administrative distractions, but you are also the arbiter who resolves peer-to-peer conflicts and enforces standards.
  • Change Management: You must distinguish between valid safety concerns (which require immediate resolution) and comfort-based resistance to new models (which requires coaching), helping clinicians navigate the discomfort of an evolving model.
Architect Team-Based Care & Unit Economics
  • Improve AndHealth’s "Top-of-License" Models: Collaborate with Clinical Pharmacists and APPs to manage routine titration and care gaps. Ensure Physicians are deployed for high-complexity decision-making.
  • Ensure Financial Viability: You understand that assigning the right clinician to the right task is both a clinical and an economic imperative. You will align clinical resource planning with the unique financial mechanics of our model to ensure sustainable margins.
  • Clinician Experience Design: Partner with Product to treat the clinician as a primary "User." Your goal is reducing cognitive load—systematizing the care model to remove administrative friction so that the "Patient-First" decision is always the path of least resistance.
  • Co-Author the Clinical Roadmap: Collaborate with executive leadership to evolve our care model, identify opportunities to expand into new specialties and design the pilots to test them.
Operational Execution and Clinical Governance
  • Operationalize Quality: Collaborate with the Clinical Quality Lead to translate strategic goals into daily clinical workflows. You are responsible for ensuring the provider network actually hits the defined targets.
  • Automated Feedback Loops: Move beyond manual chart review by building systems that flag care gaps and safety risks in real-time. You will monitor partner performance and provide feedback to ensure a single, rigorous standard of care across the ecosystem.
  • Clinical Governance: Define and uphold clinical practice guidelines across all specialties. Align clinical resource planning with the unique financial mechanics of our model and serve as the senior clinical authority for scope of practice, licensure, and prescribing pathways

Education, Licensure & Experience Requirements:
  • Education and Licensure: MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Must possess (or be eligible to obtain) medical licensure in multiple states as required by business needs.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years of clinical practice experience, with at least 5 years in a significant clinical leadership role (e.g., Medical Director, Chief of Staff, Department or Division Chair)
  • Leadership: Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and leading change management initiatives in complex healthcare settings.
  • Operational Fluency: Demonstrated ability to design workflows that improve clinical efficiency (e.g., EHR optimization, care team restructuring).
  • Supervisory: Demonstrated history of hiring and managing the performance of clinicians.
  • Research & Quality Improvement: Experience designing clinical quality improvement programs and contributing to health outcomes research.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with modern EHR systems and virtual care platforms.

Critical Traits & Behaviors:
  • Ambiguity Tolerance: We are building something new. You must be comfortable working in an environment where the answer isn't always known yet. You see "not figured out" as an invitation to build, not a sign of failure.
  • Adaptive Mindset: You are willing to try, fail, iterate, and try again. You can pivot quickly based on data without losing sight of the clinical mission.
  • Patient-First: You prioritize access, outcomes, and equity over provider convenience.
  • Low Ego, High Accountability: You are confident enough to challenge the status quo but focused on impact rather than credit.
  • Strategic Operator: You are comfortable oscillating between high-level strategy and ground-level execution. You understand that excellent strategy is useless without rigorous operational discipline.
  • Clinically Credible: You have the gravity to lead sub-specialists. They respect you not just because of your title, but because you are a peer who understands their reality.
  • Decisive Leadership: You are comfortable making decisions. You do not need to ask for permission to fix a broken workflow or correct a performance issue. You proactively bring solutions to the executive table rather than waiting for instructions.
What makes this role unique:
  • The Builder’s Opportunity: This is not a maintenance role. You will help write the playbook for a new care delivery model.
  • High Leverage: You won't just treat patients; you will build the Operating System that allows hundreds of clinicians to treat thousands of patients more effectively.
  • Mission & Model: Our unique partnership model with Community Health Centers (CHCs) allows us to fund high-touch specialty care for the most vulnerable populations in America.

Here’s what we’d like to offer you:
  • Equal investment and support for our people and patients.
  • A fun and ambitious growing environment with a culture that takes on important things, takes risks, and learns quickly.
  • The ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation, and conscientiousness, and find joy in working together.
  • A team of highly skilled, incredibly kind, and welcoming employees, every one of whom has something unique to offer.
  • We know that the overall success of our business is a collaborative effort, and we strive to provide ongoing opportunities for our employees to learn and grow, both personally and professionally.
  • Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our benefits package which includes Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance, 401k match, Paid time off, Short- and Long-Term Disability, 401k match and more.
Additional Requirements:
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: Documentation of a negative screening conducted within the last 12 months.
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of a completed vaccine series or a positive blood titer results from within the last 12 months.
  • Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR): Proof of a completed vaccine series or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
  • Varicella (Chickenpox): Proof of vaccination, documented medical history of the disease, or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis): Documentation of a booster administered within the last 10 years.
  • Influenza: Proof of vaccination for the current flu season.
  • COVID-19: Documentation of primary vaccine series and any boosters administered.
  • General: Additional health requirements may be requested as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • In this role, you will be responsible for the direct management of AndHealth-employed specialist physicians, including day-to-day leadership, performance management, coaching and development, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across the team.

We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
